‘’Ahead of the next European elections, CEMEP aims to share its vision and key recommendations to accelerate the net-zero transition and reach the Union’s increased energy and climate targets.

As Europe’s manufacturers of key energy efficient technologies, our role as enablers of an ambitious and sustainable growth strategy for the EU Green Deal can only be achieved by putting energy efficiency and energy savings on the political agenda.

Energy efficiency is called the ‘’first fuel’’ in clean energy transition, as it provides some of the quickest and most cost-effective CO2 mitigation options while lowering energy bills and strengthening the Union’s energy security.

In this context, we call on European legislators to maintain the focus ahead of the EU elections on key areas for decarbonisation, namely to:

1.       Ensure effective implementation of existing legislation

2.       Enable a consistent approach with other related EU legislation

3.       Use existing international standards to implement regulation

4.       Decrease the regulatory burden for companies and SMEs
